More than 350,000 people accompanied the president of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum, in her message at the Zocalo, where they expressed their unconditional support to continue negotiations and dialogue with the Government of the United States. The importance of maintaining respectful cooperation to strengthen bilateral relations in various areas was emphasized.
At the event in the capital's Zocalo, Sheinbaum celebrated the suspension of tariffs on Mexican products exported to the United States, postponed until April 2. The president expressed confidence that the imposition of reciprocal tariffs by the U.S. would not affect Mexico thanks to the USMCA.
Among the measures to strengthen the national economy, a plan was announced that includes strengthening the internal market, increasing the minimum wage, promoting self-sufficiency in food and energy, public investment for job creation, boosting national production, and strengthening welfare programs such as pensions and scholarships.
Sheinbaum highlighted the importance of collaboration to prevent the trafficking of fentanyl into the U.S. and Mexico, highlighting the seizures made by Mexican authorities. She acknowledged previous cooperation with former presidents López Obrador and Trump, and committed to continue working in defense of sovereignty.
The president also defended Mexican migrants in the U.S., highlighting their contribution with record remittances. Additionally, she emphasized the importance of preventing the entry of high-powered weapons into Mexican territory. The head of government, Clara Brugada, supported Sheinbaum at the event, underscoring the importance of the strategy to drive the country forward with the support of the people.
